The Block earrings are built, not drawn. There is only one module, a small rubber cube, repeated and threaded onto a thin rubber cord until it forms a 4 x 5 centimetre sunburst.
The small cubes stand on edge, at alternating angles, and the outer profile becomes a serrated crown. There is no frame: that cord is the whole structure, and it is enough to hold the circle open.
They are large, but the rubber weighs nothing: at just 10 grams in total you can wear them all day without your earlobe noticing.
The post is in rhodium-plated silver, the only shiny point on a piece that otherwise absorbs the light, and it stays safe on the skin.

Rubber

Soft and light, with shape memory: with a little care it stays as it was on the first day.

How to wear it. Keep it away from alcohol, acetone and solvents, and from strong heat. Many hours of direct sun will dull the colour over time.
How to clean it. A cloth dampened with lukewarm water and a drop of neutral soap, then dry it straight away. If it looks dull over time, it is the skin's natural oils: wipe it with a degreaser, then dry it with a soft cloth.
How to store it. Lay it flat or loosely coiled, never tightly folded, away from radiators and sunny windows.

How to wear it. Put it on last, after creams, perfume and hairspray. Take it off before showering, swimming in the sea or pool, exercising and going to bed.
How to clean it. When you take it off, wipe it with a soft, dry cloth: a few seconds are enough.
How to store it. Keep it in its box, in a dry drawer, away from your other jewellery. The bathroom, with its steam, is the least suitable place.

They are large and weigh nothing. Beside the face the starburst reads at once, and with hair up you see it whole. With hair down they appear and disappear with every movement. The rhodium-plated silver post stays small behind the lobe and goes unnoticed.

The material, up close.

The rubber is soft and matt: 4 x 5 centimetres, 10 grams in total. It absorbs light; the radiating pattern is a clean design. The cubes are cut and pierced one by one. The thread is the same rubber, but fine. Its elasticity keeps the form open.

In the light versions the thread is in a contrasting colour. It remains visible between the cubes. The construction is not hidden. This reveals the technique and the care of the gesture that creates it, making its structural essence visible. Every element is an integral part of the final form.

The post is in rhodium-plated silver. It is the only metal in the piece. Its shine is the only concession to the reflection of light. This essential gesture underlines the concreteness of Ellesanti design, where the material defines the character.
